Myanmar

Myanmar (Burma) is a country in Southeast Asia, bordered on the west by India and Bangladesh, on the north and northeast by China, and on the east and southeast by Laos and Thailand. Myanmar is a multi-ethnic country with 135 officially recognized ethnic groups, each with distinct languages, traditions, religions, and cultural identities that reflect one of the most ethnically diverse countries in Southeast Asia.

Myanmar is divided into 15 main administrative divisions: 7 regions, 7 states, and 1 union territory. Myanmar is a multi-religious, plural society with a population of 55 million. Myanmar has a diverse religious landscape, with Buddhism as the dominant religion and the largest at 76.2%, Christianity as the second largest religion at 9.0%, Ethnic Religion as the third largest religion at 7.1%, Islam the fourth largest religion at 4.8%, Hinduism at 1.7%, Unknown at 0.7%, Non-religious at 0.4%, and Animism at 0.1%.

The majority of Christians in Myanmar belong to minority ethnic groups. The country’s church landscape is characterized by denominational divisions with a strong ethnolinguistic focus. While Christians make up around 9.0% of the population, true Christ-following believers represent 5.3%. We are tasked with providing gospel access to more than 45 million people in Myanmar.

What We Do

We will provide Institutional Accreditation, Financial Accountability, and Stewardship Advisory to enhance trust in churches, ministries, missional businesses, nonprofit organizations, and educational institutions in Myanmar in partnership with international accreditation and accountability organizations.
